just read in the evening newspaper’s article on comments on the internet which labelled the 12 boys and girls as a bunch of lousy and ugly kids…(see link: http://www.omy.sg/Showbiz/E-News/Story/OMYStory200901181458-35971.html)
For goodness sake, though they are more or less ‘mentally prepared’ for all sorts of criticisms coming their way (as usual of all competitions), I am sure these kids will be so hurt reading it…(they are still kids lah).
Comments being published included some which poked fun at a certain contestant being short and another one being fat…
Let me share my opinions…and hopefully cheer the kids up a little…(though I don’t work on Channel U’s shows anymore). Honestly speaking, this batch of 12 boys and girls come with the best vocal powers as compared to the last 2 batches. Overall singing-wise, they are the best (as good as some of the best singers in season 1). Nobody in Season 2 was of this standard at all…
Sure, it may be lacking some of the best-lookers (not always the best singers) as compared to season 1 and 2, but this season is really all about real talent – 实力. Isn’t this what we have been teaching growing up kids that it is important to work hard and be successful and that has nothing to do with whether you have an hourly glass figure or butt-smooth porcelain skin?
Have you heard the so-called ‘fat’ contestant singing? Well, watch him tonight (Monday, 19 January at 8pm) on Channel U and decide if ‘being fat has affected your appreciation of the singing’… He is the second best contestant with a voice that could touch my heart in all the competitions I have seen (the first was Project SuperStar Kelvin Tan 陈伟联)!
There’ll always be evil comments against the contestants in any competitions. So, I want to encourage the kids in this competition to stay very focussed and sing with all their passion…
